Getting My Body Back in 2021

!

Remember in your 20’s when making plans with friends consisted of meeting for one, two or ten drinks. Those days feel like forever ago! Now that I’ve hit the ripe old age of 30, my friends and I occasionally channel our time and energy into group exercise (with celebratory drinks after, obviously). A few years back, a close friend of mine invited me to join her for a workout at [solidcore]. I’ll be honest, at first I wasn’t too sure how this was going to go down. I mean, the name alone was enough to intimidate me. After only a few classes, however, I began to see real results to my physique. I was officially hooked!

[Solidcore] is a form of Pilates taken to a whole ‘nother level. During each 50 minute class, you and your resistance machine, sweatlana, work to break down your muscle fibers until they reach the point of failure (if your legs start shaking uncontrollably, you know you’re doing it right!). During the recovery period, your body begins to repair these muscles, resulting in muscle growth! There is a ton of science that backs the benefits of this process and though I am definitely no scientist, I can say that I have never felt as fit as when I was consistently attending [solidcore] classes. Now that studios in NYC are beginning to rebound, I am soooo ready to get back in there. This has been a long hard year for me and I am so excited to make my physical health a priority again.

Airbnb Experience: A Potter’s Wheel

With the days starting to get a bit longer and the weather a bit warmer, many of us are looking for new NYC experiences to enjoy. I’ve always wanted to learn more about pottery and A Potter’s Wheel in Greenpoint gave me the best opportunity to do so. From centering to forming, I enjoyed the hands-on demonstration of pottery making from a very talented local artist. Included in the lesson is the opportunity to make two small pieces. I can’t wait to see how mine came out!
